Skenfrith Village Shop is an oasis for visitors on a hot day and a source of fresh local produce for locals and visitors alike through the summer months.

The shop began in 1997 - an initiative of local people sponsored by Monmouth Borough Council through its Local Agenda 21 environmental programme. It is managed by a group of local volunteers and is open from 12 noon to 6 pm weekends and bank holidays from March to October.

Shoppers will find refreshments, local crafts and produce, plants, sweets, books, tourist guides, Fairtrade goods, organic free-range eggs and good quality bric-a-brac.

In 2003 the Shop received the Care of the Environment - Rural Wales Award. Those who use the shop and know the hard work put into it by the team of volunteers will be certain that the award was richly deserved.
